The Kettle Moraine Sport Riders (KMSR) are a not for profit recreational club dedicated to enjoying the sport of motorcycling. Founded over 30 years ago, the first club members believed that "motorcycles are basically neat." We hold the same view today and continue to promote all types of cycling in this area.
KMSR hosts an annual Poker Run or AMA road event. Riders journey on a winding ride through the beautiful Kettle Moraine. Participants follow a sheet of riddle-like directions to find their way to five checkpoints scattered throughout the Kettle Moraine. At each checkpoint they draw a poker card. Riders with the best Poker hand at the end of the run win prizes. Participants may enter the following categories: Solo - riding alone, Buddy - have a passenger on the back or in a sidecar, Passenger - are riding on the back or in the sidecar of someone else's bike.
We also run a Motorcycle Hillclimb on Father's Day every year. Bikes ranging from 50cc to Unlimited cc, amateur to pro, attempt to climb an altered section of the Sunburst Ski Hill. Starting this year, we will be participating in the King-of-the-Hill championship series. Spectators and riders welcome. Thrills and spills for the entire family. This is an AMA sanctioned event.
For the first time, in 2005, we held a Dual Sport Ride. Riders used on and off road trails through the Kettle Moraine to challenge themselves and their friends. In this dual sport ride, the course traverses both on and off road trails. Off road trails are separated into regular sections and hero (challenging and for experienced riders) sections.
A portion of our profits are donated to charity. Over the past few years, we have been able to donate to these fine charities:
The Alzheimer's Association
The American Heart Association
The American Cancer Society
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
CMH Wheeling for Healing Big Brothers Big Sisters |
